EQUITY UPDATE 2 Michael
Leemhuis David
Ritz
Yesterday we provided some important information regarding the care of
your residence. We wanted to continue to stress the importance of
this. Those who have been through hurricanes in the past likely
know the importance of taking immediate action, having seen first-hand
what the situation can be like when your home suffers damage.
One Member in particular noted that their report from their caretaker
was “all is OK,” yet despite this report they came down to personally
inspect their home and were happy that they did so. Upon entering their
residence everything looked to be OK but the professionals they brought
in found some wind-driven water intrusion in their bathroom ceiling.
Wind-driven water is a feature of tropical storms that is not seen in a
normal rainstorm. This rain comes at your home sideways and then under
pressure from the wind can work its way upward under eaves and into
attics causing moisture and water intrusion in areas you would not
normally see. In our humid environment, there is not much opportunity
for areas of the home to naturally dry out. Instead, the moisture
remains and can turn into a much larger problem down the road. Second,
they were able to work directly with their landscaper to make important
decisions regarding which trees to take out, which to prune back and
which to try and stand upright. That would have been very difficult to
determine over the phone. The sooner you act the easier it will be to
resolve any issues and find the quality workers to perform the needed
services.
First Town Hall
Meeting Rescheduled
With the rescheduling of the Equity Welcome Back party, we also decided
to move our first Town Hall meeting, as the two typically coincide on
the calendar. Therefore, the Town
Hall meeting planned for November 17, will now be held
on Friday,
December 1, followed by the Equity Welcome Back party
on Sunday,
December 3. As we have for the last couple of years, we
will continue our live streaming on oceanreef.comso if you are not here in person we look forward to your participation
on line.
Equity Only
Reservations for Dining and Holiday Events
Our Equity Member reservation window is still open for all of our
Holiday events. There are still a number of opportunities for our
Cooking School Classes and Starlight Dinners, along with a few Vine to
Table seats at the Clubhouse too. This Friday, our Dining Reservations
team who have been busy rebooking existing reservations for the
Islander, will be accepting new Islander reservations for Equity
Members Only. The Equity-only window for all of these events will
remain open until October 15.
Reminder on
Debris & Green Waste Removal
There are two options for removing green waste from your property. The
first is to have your landscaper remove them from your property and
drop them off on one of the four ORCA designated sites within the Ocean
Reef Community. There is no charge to you or your landscaper for
dropping off green waste in one of the four designated sites. Please be
aware your landscape company may have additional fees for the work
involved in moving the waste from your property to one of the
designated sites.
The second option is to pile the green waste in front of your house and
the Club will remove it from that location. Please be aware this option
will take longer to remove the green waste and as is the Club’s normal
procedure, if the amount is larger than we can fit into our pickup
truck there will be a charge for pick up requiring a larger truck. For
Irma related non-green waste debris such as appliances or drywall that
was removed for moisture you can either have that hauled away by your
contractor or again the same normal process will apply where you can
place that in front of your home and it will be removed. Normal white
waste pick up fees will apply if the quantity of debris removed
requires the larger truck and equipment.
In all cases, please be sure to keep your green waste separated from
your other debris. White waste and green waste should not me comingled.

Irma please
