EQUITY MEMBER
UPDATE
Have you checked
on your residence?
It was only two weeks ago that Hurricane Irma made landfall in the
Florida Keys. In the immediate aftermath the main goal for the Club and
Community was to clear the roads and restore power and water so that we
might begin to provide other critical services for the growing work crews
and returning Members.
One of the Club's guiding principles notes that the value of the Club is
linked to the value of our Member's real estate. We want to make sure you
protect that value, and with that in mind we want to encourage you to
either hire someone or take it upon yourself, to inspect your home,
inside and out, for any water intrusion or damage. As we begin our third
week of facility assessments, we are finding moisture in areas that at
first appeared dry. A little time spent now can ensure you are not
dealing with issues later in the season, when you would rather be
enjoying your Club’s amenities.
This past weekend we saw a nice volume of rainfall at the Club. With
this, we are already seeing the golf courses look much greener and the
Mahogany trees sprouting new bright green leaves. More and more debris is
being removed every day and more venues are opening for dining and
enjoyment. Today, we saw Members in the Fitness Center, Tennis Center,
Reef Treats and last night the Burgee Bar was quite busy. We are ready
for you to visit the Club, we just want to make sure your home will be
ready for you for this coming season.
Debris & Green
Waste Removal
For those that have been on-site and are clearing home sites of downed
trees and other “green” waste there are two options. The first is to have
your landscaper remove them from your property and drop them off on one
of the four ORCA designated sites within the Ocean Reef Community. There
is no charge to you or your landscaper for dropping off green waste in
one of the four designated sites. But please be aware your landscape
company may have additional fees for the work involved in moving the
waste from your property to one of the designated sites.
The second option is to pile the green waste in front of your house and
the Club will remove it from that location. Please be aware this option
will take longer to remove the green waste and as is the Club’s normal
procedure, if the amount is larger than we can fit into our pickup truck
there will be a charge for pick up requiring a larger truck. For Irma
related non-green waste debris such as appliances or drywall that was
removed for moisture you can either have that hauled away by your
contractor or again the same normal process will apply where you can
place that in front of your home and it will be removed. Normal white
waste pick up fees will apply if the quantity of debris removed requires
the larger truck and equipment.
In all cases please be sure to keep your green waste separated from your
other debris. White waste and green waste should not me comingled. For
complete details on debris removal guidelines relating to Hurricane Irma please
Landscape &
Pool
We also encourage you to contact your landscaper and pool company to
ensure that they have visited your home to address any issues. There are
still a number of homes with trees down that could perhaps be saved (placed
back upright and supported for a full recovery) as well as pools that are
green and as of yet unattended.
We are opening more services every day for Members and it is easier to
return and know you will be looked after by your Club. Please take the extra
time now to ensure you will have the carefree season you look forward to
every year.
Regards,
President Ocean Reef Club
President ORCA
